What is the Freedom Project?

The Freedom Project is a start-up ministry that exists to multiply residences that equip people to live a new life, forever free from addiction and abuse.

Why is Legacy 242 invested in the Freedom Project?

While there are many worthy mercy and justice ministries that we could invest in, this one is particularly near and dear to our hearts. First, we have multiple elders and members who have been saved from addiction or abuse. Second, we've experienced many tragic losses that impelled our church to address the issue. For example, in October of 2019 after hanging with one of our MC's and praying for his first time, Joe, who was wrestling with his sin, addiction and the grace of God in Christ, overdosed in a CVS bathroom. Forrest, Paul, Eric and many other beloved friends & family wrought havoc on their lives and loved ones through addiction or abuse. We must act for those we love and others we've yet to meet. Third, there is an epidemic of drug addiction and abuse in our region that desperately needs effective solutions. We're driven to create a supportive environment where residents can rebuild their lives and develop essential life skills while integrating into society as self-sufficient and empowered individuals. By focusing on  gospel-centered discipleship, long-term recovery and holistic support, we aim to multiply the number of residences to reach more people in need and believe this approach to be desperately needed in the recovery world. Lastly, and most importantly, we believe God has called us as a church to launch and support the Freedom Project.
