The God of All Comfort

Nov 10, 2024    Steve Marfia

FCF: Recognizing the suffering of God’s people produces grief in the hearts of God’s beloved.

Big Idea: In the face of great grief, God provides for His people.

1. God’s comfort in our grief. (1-9)

  — learning a few things about lament, when you lament you:

   1) allow yourself to feel

   2) process pain in the present & fear of the future

   3) grieve your involvement and shed your victim mind-set

   4) empathize with others who are hurting

   5) work thru cycle: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance, thanksgiving

   6) escape the religious trap = pithy, trite, heartless responses (God is in control)

2. God’s strength in our weakness. (10-18)

3. God’s encouragement to press on. (19-21)

Prop: Trust in the God who provides for His beloved people and He WILL comfort, strengthen and encourage you to press on till our faith becomes sight!
