The God of All Comfort
FCF: Recognizing the suffering of God’s people produces grief in the hearts of God’s beloved.
Big Idea: In the face of great grief, God provides for His people.
1. God’s comfort in our grief. (1-9)
— learning a few things about lament, when you lament you:
1) allow yourself to feel
2) process pain in the present & fear of the future
3) grieve your involvement and shed your victim mind-set
4) empathize with others who are hurting
5) work thru cycle: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance, thanksgiving
6) escape the religious trap = pithy, trite, heartless responses (God is in control)
2. God’s strength in our weakness. (10-18)
3. God’s encouragement to press on. (19-21)
Prop: Trust in the God who provides for His beloved people and He WILL comfort, strengthen and encourage you to press on till our faith becomes sight!
